The brush features advanced sensors developed by Withings (Leader in Smart Technologies like FITBIT) that, thanks to a microphone and several other sensors, are able to detect sound waves to determine the way hair is brushed, its force, movements, damage in the hair and split ends.

All the data collected through the sensors are then measured and calculated through an algorithm developed by L’Oréal’s Research and Innovation Technology Incubator, giving you a score on the quality of the hair and the hair brushing.

The Smart Hairbrush comes with an App for your smartphone that will give you insights on the best way to brush your hair without creating any further hair damage and also recommendations on which Kérastase hair care routine adopt for your specific hair needs.

A report issued by L’Oréal scientists informs that forceful hair brushing has been proven to be one of the main causes of hair damage, like split ends and breakage.

The Kérastase Hair Coach aims to minimize these risks taking in consideration in-depth information and data collection from the way we brush our hair every day with the help of several sensors inserted in the smart hairbrush, like:

  • Conductivity sensors

  • A Microphone

  • A gyroscope and an Accelerometer

  •  3-axis load cells

Conductivity sensors determine if the brush is been used on wet or dry hair. The brush is spalsh-proof.

The Microphone identify hair brushing pattern listening to the sound of the brushing providing great data about frizziness, manageability, dryness, breakage and split ends.

The gyroscope and the accelerometer help analyze even more hair brushing pattern with count of brush strokes, and alerting if brushing is too vigorous and damaging for the hair.

3-axis load cells to verify the amount of force that is applied to the hair and scalp when brushing.
