The Brunette Reset | Dimensional Brunette Hair | Toronto
A seasonal refinement focused on depth, dimension, and making brunette hair feel richer without making it darker.
She came in looking for something subtle.
Her brunette had gradually become a little uneven through the lengths — not dramatically faded, but lacking the depth and movement it once had. After several months of colour, heat styling, and everyday exposure, the hair simply wasn’t reflecting light in the same way.

“I still want to be brunette,” she said.
“Just… better.”
It’s a familiar request at Tony Shamas.
Not every colour appointment needs to mean becoming lighter, darker, warmer, or completely different. Sometimes the most effective approach is to work with what is already there and restore the balance.
We began by looking at the existing colour through the lengths and around the face.

The base had good depth, but the mid-lengths had become slightly warmer and more translucent than the rest of the hair. Rather than covering everything with one uniform shade, the focus was on creating a more considered balance between depth and light.
A custom colour was applied to bring richness back into the brunette while maintaining its natural-looking variation.
The goal wasn’t a flat, solid brown.
It was dimension.
Subtle tonal differences allow brunette hair to catch light differently as it moves — particularly through the mid-lengths and around the face. These variations are what give darker hair its sense of depth and make the colour feel more alive.
Around the face, we kept things deliberately restrained.
A few softly placed pieces were refined to create separation and brightness without turning the overall look into a highlighted brunette. The effect is barely noticeable as individual colour — but together, it gives the hair more movement.
The final step was focused on shine and condition.
Because richness isn’t only about colour. Healthy-looking hair reflects light differently, and that reflection can completely change how a brunette reads.
Once styled, the difference was subtle but immediate.
The hair looked deeper, glossier and more dimensional — without looking darker.

Nothing dramatic had been added.
Instead, what was already there had been brought back into balance.
She looked in the mirror for a moment before smiling.
“That’s exactly it.”
Sometimes a brunette doesn’t need a new colour.
It simply needs to be seen differently.
